Bol Bol Delivery

Bol Bol is a food delivery application that delivers food to your door from every restaurant near you, in a very short time and with the best packaging, and aims to have the best user experience.

The app provides a convenient way to browse menus, place orders, and track the delivery process. Bol Bol offers a variety of cuisines and restaurants, making it a convenient solution for people who want to order food for delivery or takeout.

Role

  • I have created UI Visuals and led the product design and UX process.
    I collaborated with a product managers, a product marketing and the development team to research, scope, plan, execute, define fixes and prioritise.

Target and Challenges

  • Bol Bol had a very clear target, a target that needs an extremely easy and fast to use solution. The app should looks professional while also looking beautiful which difference itself from other food delivery apps.

Some Research Findings

User research indicates that new user spends less than 30 seconds on the home screen after their initial login. So, we should design an engaging and clean home screen layout. Marketing has two campaigns scheduled at the same time. Bol Bol and partnership sustainably sourced restaurants. So, we should have designed an experience to prioritize promotions. Research shows that users add items to their cart but do not complete the purchase process because there are too many steps and the cart is hard to edit. So, we should have designed simply the process. When customers order food to the wrong location they must contact customer service, causing delays and dissatisfaction. So, we should have added to the experience to prevent this. Through user surveys, we have learned that users would like real-time order status updates. So, we should have design a way for customers to visualize order status and progress.

Understanding the User

We have created 2 user groups. Restaurant-based users follow the existing model of food delivery apps where dishes are grouped by the restaurant. Food-based users follow a new model where they are more interested in discovering dishes rather than restaurants. From the user interviews, we found that users are food-based or restaurant-based, price sensitive and are concerned about delivery fees, want more accurate order status notifications, are visually driven (want pictures of dishes) and interested in supporting local businesses.

As part of the ideation process, I mapped out a user flow to create a visual representation of the steps a user would take to reach their end goal. This also helped identify all the screens to be included in the design. Users can view real-time updates of their order from the moment it is placed till the moment it arrives through an informative wizard. If the restaurant is closed or if a desired dish is unavailable, the Bol Bol app recommends other restaurants with the same cuisines and alternate restaurants with the same dish. My Order page enables the users to easily edit their orders and it also provides a comprehensive pricing breakdown so that they know how much service tax and delivery fee they are paying. Users can use the cancel order button to cancel their order within 60 seconds after placing it.

Great attention to details, context-aware, expandable, and always up to date.

Validation and Value Added for Client

Users assessed the final prototype, and their interactions were tracked to see where they had problems. Further, participants were asked to give feedback on the key features based on how simple they found them to use and how beneficial they felt they were. The final product, Bol Bol was able to cater to the needs of the client and improved users’ experience in the following ways: Employee Time Saving, Increased Customer Loyalty and Brand Recognition.
